HISTORY & WORK

The Loon Lake Food Bank was started in 1980, in the trunk of a car and incorporated in 1983.  As we have grown from out of a car to our large building, so has the number of clients.  We are serving an average of 1600 families per month.

We have come from a very small to the largest food bank in Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry Counties.  Our expenses escalate annually and are met only by the generous support of caring friends, businesses and agencies.

With the generosity of our supporters, we are keeping pace with the goal that there will be no hungry child, adult or senior, in our geographic area.

During our summer months, we provide breakfast and lunches to the kids in the community in need of a meal during that time.

 

MISSION & PURPOSE

  • To feed the hungry and provide food for persons in need.
  • To assist in resources and growth.
  • To provide services without bias to any racial, social, ethic, sexual, ethnic, religious, age or economic group, but with respect for the confidentiality and human dignity of all those who utilize the Loon Lake Food Bank & Resource Center.
